I didn't know what they wanted. I’d never been to Venice, though I often think about the unlikely city underwater (as I do New Orleans). I’d like to go, but in the meantime, an e-mail from “The 1989” began an exchange that resulted in the following interview. I refused to answer some questions. They were absurd and uninteresting.
